The Bat Busters team was created by Lance Nelson the summer of 2014, after the player's last year of coach pitch ball in Grand Island.  Lance approached a couple other dads about the idea of taking the then six year olds and forming a 7U USSSA baseball team for the following season.  A total of twelve players and their parents committed to the program.  The name of the team is credited to a GISH softball player Molly McNelis who mentioned that she played against a team from Texas called the Bat Busters.  The name stuck and in the summer of 2015 the 7U team played a 16 game schedule in the 8U division.  Primarily that team has stuck together but each year try outs at the end of each season.

This is the teams third  year and progress has been made each and every year.  Last season the Bat Busters ended the season as the Nebraska 8U AAA Bronze State champions (20-6 ).  In 2017 another team was added to the 8U division that include all players that started the year seven years old and younger.
